Peter Robey is an Australian photographer based in Brisbane. His work has taken him from the most poverty-stricken villages in Nigeria, to a golf cart with the 7th richest man in the United States, from 2.5 km down under the earth to dangling off the skids of a helicopter. Peter is someone who loves his job.

Peter Robey's clients know him as someone who can work in adverse conditions, under pressure, and as someone who thinks laterally. Peter prides himself on these qualities.

Case Study: Drill Rig

Brief

Shoot on multiple drill rig sites in 3 states of AUSTRALIA.

  • Central W.A.
  • Moomba - Northern S.A.
  • Far Western QLD

Challenges

  • To completely organize shooting schedule
  • To drive 5 hours north of Perth and locate remote rig site to shoot at first light SUNDAY morning
  • Fly back to Adelaide S.A. and catch flight to Moomba MONDAY
  • Hot dry desert working conditions of 49°C - 51°C
  • Due to sensitive drilling, images shot on manual camera (no electronics)
  • Complete assignment before crew change flight home (next crew change flight - 3 weeks!)
  • All images processed, scanned, and delivered on CD within 24 hours of arriving home
  • Drinking enough water to prevent heat stress! (workers each drink 20l H2O/day)
